18th-Century French Faience Box Attributed to Veuve Perrin

This charming French faience box dates to the 18th century. It is attributed to the Veuve Perrin factory in Marseille.

The box features a rectangular form with softly rounded corners. A fitted metal mount joins the lid and base. A decorative clasp secures the front.

Hand-Painted Floral Decoration

The white tin-glazed surface displays lively hand-painted floral sprays. Cobalt blue flowers contrast with warm iron-red and orange blossoms.

The lid carries a larger floral composition. Smaller flowers continue along the sides of the box.

An iron-red border surrounds the lid. The painter created the border with short, energetic brushstrokes.
