This elegant gilded bronze table lamp combines classical ornament, architectural detail, and exceptional decorative presence.

Attributed to Caldwell, the lamp reflects the refined craftsmanship associated with important American lighting of the early twentieth century.

Its tall, slender profile gives the lamp an impressive presence without appearing overly heavy or formal.

Richly Detailed Gilded Bronze

The bronze standard features a succession of finely modeled classical motifs and architectural elements.

A Corinthian-inspired capital introduces scrolling forms, layered leaves, and crisp ornamental detailing.

Below, the shaft displays additional foliate decoration, bands, moldings, and carefully articulated relief work.

The warm gilded surface enhances every carved detail and creates attractive highlights across the bronze.

Natural variation within the finish adds depth and suggests the appealing character expected from an antique object.

Impressive Foliate Base

The circular base provides one of the lamp’s strongest decorative features.

Bold acanthus leaves radiate across the surface in a balanced, repeating pattern.

Raised borders and concentric moldings give the base additional depth and visual structure.

Small feet subtly elevate the lamp while maintaining its substantial classical appearance.

The richly ornamented base measures 10 inches in diameter.

Classical American Lighting

Edward F. Caldwell & Company became renowned for sophisticated lighting and decorative metalwork in New York.

This attributed example displays the elaborate historicist vocabulary often associated with the firm’s distinguished production.

The lamp works beautifully in a library, study, living room, or traditionally furnished bedroom.

It also provides a strong decorative counterpoint within more contemporary interiors.

Its sculptural form allows it to function as both lighting and an important decorative object.
